Tenerife Castle - Castillo San Miguel |
Are you looking for a fantastic family night out in Tenerife? Castillo San Miguel is the perfect venue for such a night. This fabulous building covers approximately 6,000 square metres and is constructed of Canarian stone and its towers are more than 16 metres high. The Castillo San Miguel is home to the Count Don Rodrigo and this daughter the Countess who both enjoy an evening of fun and games performed by their knights and would like to invite you along to one of their tournaments which are held four times a week.
As you enter Castillo San Miguel you will find yourself transported
back to the medieval days. The entrance to the venue is decorated with
armour, chests and swords for a really authentic medieval look. The
count and countess will be there to welcome you to their home while one
of their escorts show you into the tournament room where the fun and
games can begin when the Count has taken his seat in his spectators box.
The coloured seating around the tournament room is tiered so that all of the Counts guests have a great view of the arena. You will be handed a coloured apron that corresponds with the coloured seating and so that you can identify your knight. Loud cheers are very welcome when the knights enter the arena to introduce themselves to you and begin performance of medieval fighting and games. Cheer on your knight as loud as you can as they compete in the jousting competition.
A banquet of soup, chicken and garnish is served throughout the competition which must be eaten medieval style. The soup is drunk from the bowl and the rest of the meal is eaten using your hands. The meal is finished with dessert and drinks.
When the tournament is over the Count Don Rodrigo invites his guests in to the ballroom where you can end your night out in Tenerife with a dance, or enjoy a performance of Spanish Ballet, Comedy or Acrobatics.
