Dear Members
I cannot believe that 7 months of my year have already
gone and that Christmas is almost upon us again. However the Committee have
been busy and as you will see there is plenty of reading enclosed for your
perusal. As this will be the last newsletter before most of you return for the
winter can I just remind you that your handicap certificates and playing
records are requested, otherwise you will be ineligible to win any prizes.
Also enclosed is a copy of the Competition Entry Rules
which have been drawn up in order to avoid any misunderstanding.
During this year we have unfortunately lost three of
our members: Steve Hirst and Les Perry died
in February and Liz Hatcher died in May. Condolences were sent to the family on
behalf of the members.
The Annual Presentation Dinner Dance will once again
be held at the Villa Cortez, after many requests, and this will be on Friday,
18th January 2008. The cost this year will be €57.50 and there will only be 110
tickets available for the occasion. I have enclosed details of the Dinner and
hope that you will support this as in previous years.
The Summer has been quiet this year but we have had
some very good competitions. The Anniversary Trophy was held on 29th April and
was won by Ian Hooley with a score of 70 net after a count back. Second was Steve Johnson, again with a 70 on
a count back and third place went to James Ferraby with a 70 net.
The Summer Knockout was held at the beginning of July
with the final being played between Gary Lavelle and David Taylor and James
Ferraby and myself. James and I won the final at the 15th.
The Steve Yates Memorial Trophy was held on 2nd September
which was once again sponsored by Marion Yates. The winner was Ian Pilling with
a score of 67 and in second place Mike Baker won on a card play off with a
score of 72 beating Alex Mathias into third place. The best lady was Ann Dunlop
with a score of 77 and the front nine prize went to Ray Massey and the back
nine to Alan Watson. After the competition there was a buffet on the terrace.
Thank you Marion
for your sponsorship of this competition.

medals were won by:

Congratulation and well done everyone.
Once again this year the men have played 4 ball
matches against Adeje and Golf del Sur. Unfortunately Amarilla lost by one point to Adeje, but the matches were
enjoyed by everyone. I understand that Alan organised further matches, but
singles this time which are taking place this month.
As this will be the last newsletter before the
subscriptions are due can I please remind everyone that subscriptions are due 1st
December with payment being accepted up to 28th February 2008. Would all members please be aware that if
payment is not made prior to the end of February their membership will lapse.
I look forward to seeing all our members for the
Winter season and hope that we can all have great golf with good companionship.
